Premium tax credit check

Find out what you’d actually pay in 2027

The premium you see on a plan is rarely the premium you pay. Your premium tax credit depends on household size, ZIP code and expected 2027 income. Enter them on HealthSherpa to see estimated prices yourself — or send them to Roman and he’ll run the numbers with you, including the cases where an estimate goes wrong.

What to know first

Three things that change which plan is right for you.

Self-employed? That’s normal

If you don’t know next year’s income exactly, Roman estimates it with you from last year and your current situation.

Silver can unlock extra savings

At some incomes, Silver plans come with cost-sharing reductions that lower your deductible — not just your premium.

Estimate, then confirm

Online estimates are a starting point. Your final credit is set when you apply, and Roman checks it before you enroll.

Two ways to get it done

Pick the one that suits you. You can start on your own and ask Roman anytime.

Questions people ask

Will I qualify for a tax credit?

It depends on household income compared with the federal poverty level and on the cost of plans in your area. The quickest way to know is to enter your details — it takes about two minutes.

What if I guess my income wrong?

If you get more credit than you qualify for, you may repay some of it at tax time. That’s why it helps to estimate carefully and report changes during the year.

Do I need to give my Social Security number to see prices?

No. You can see estimated prices with just ZIP code, household and income. Personal details are only needed to enroll.
